| The Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Clinic is the first clinic where we welcome our patients who apply to our center and where diagnosis and treatment planning are carried out. Before the patients who come to our center begin their treatment, they are examined by a specialist dentist in the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology clinic in line with their complaints and, if deemed necessary, are directed to the radiology unit to have radiographs taken. IMPORTANCE OF EXAMINATION AND CORRECT DIAGNOSIS During the first examination of the patients, it is first learned whether they have any systemic diseases, a healthy anamnesis (medical history) and any illnesses they have had. The first examination is an important issue that should be taken seriously in order to ensure that our patients with systemic diseases do not encounter any health problems during their treatment. In line with the information obtained during this examination, treatment planning and medications to be used are selected in accordance with the health conditions of our patients. The treatment plan, its variety, advantages and disadvantages are explained to our patients in detail. Treatments that are initiated by making a detailed examination and treatment plan that leads to correct diagnoses are completed successfully and are long-lasting; Thus, health, time and economic losses are avoided. There is a digital network and patient follow-up program so that radiographs taken in the radiology clinic can be monitored in the clinics of our faculty. THINGS TO BE CONSIDERED WHEN EXAMINING AND HAVING A RADIOGRAPHY During the examination; Questions asked must be answered accurately, and incomplete information must not be provided to avoid compromising treatment and patient health. In the Radiology Clinic; Before filming, all metal jewelry (glasses, hearing aids, hair clips, earrings, nose rings, piercings, necklaces, etc.) should be removed from the head and neck area. If there are removable prosthetics, they should be removed from the mouth. CASES WHEN PREGNANCY OR SUSPECTED PREGNANCY IS EXISTENT Although the amount of radiation emitted by the latest technology radiography devices used in dentistry, especially in our faculty, is very low and does not pose a threat to human health, radiography is not taken from pregnant women or those suspected of being pregnant, unless there is an urgent medical need or a doctor's request. If necessary, the radiology clinic should not be entered without wearing a lead apron, after consulting the relevant personnel. |
